Nourish Your Creativity (Especially Now)
Saturday: Juicy Living: a NEW Art Journaling PWYCW Workshop Series
Greetings,
Usually I’m asking for time to slow down, but this month is just beyond absurd on so many levels.
I know that many of us seem to have less and less time lately as our lives are filled with distractions… I think that in the midst of (gestures arms wide) EVERYTHING going on in the world, that we need to do things that will keep us (somewhat) sane, focused, engaged, and fulfilled. We need to nourish our creativity. Yes, even amidst the utter nonsense of the world, we need to pause on a regular basis and do something that reminds us of our humanity.
What I’m Reading
I’ve been dipping in and out of Barron Dunham’s The Artist in Society.
“The speech of the arts expresses how it feels to be a human being at a certain place and time.”
“Consequently, if I had to administer the affairs of a nation, I would observe with great care her poets, painters, and musicians, for these would tell me what life under my administration was really like. Further, they would tell they would tell me what my fellow citizens aspired to and what methods they preferred for fulfillment. Very probably, one of the motives for censorship is a wish not to reveal these things.”
I’ve got a chapter or two left. If you’ve read it, I’d love to know your thoughts. Are you reading anything you’ve found helpful?
I have two workshops this weekend:
Juicy Living: a NEW Art Journaling PWYCW Workshop Series
Saturday 1 February 2025 11 am PST
(fyi, you can sign up on a month by month basis or subscribe.)
Trust me when I say that this monthly pay what you can art journaling workshop will nourish and enrich you. I don’t know how much longer I can offer the pwycw as paypal is changing their terms, but I will do so as long as possible (or until I find a way to work around it! I’m always open to ideas.)
The Art Life: Building Your Visual Vocabulary is where I’m pouring EVERYTHING I have as a creative human and art instructor:
acrylic painting
art history
art journaling
collage
drawing
writing
and more…
This is some of the work I’ve done in January for TAL:

We have live painting sessions, live art journaling workshops, art salons, art history talks, and so much more. It’s a little art community with a very full video library of our live sessions. I’ve built it with the help and love from creatives spread across the globe. You can dip in and out, taking what you need. It is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite a long time and I’m quite proud of it.
I’d love for you to join us.
New Booklets in my Ko-Fi:
I have new booklets in my Ko-Fi shop (they’re available both printed and digitally. Ko-Fi is a great way to support artists! December’s booklets come with a bonus.)
Thank you,
Kelly 🎨
