What is a Pay What You Can Workshop?
Encouragement, Community and Opportunity
I've always tried to make my workshops accessible.
On the first Saturday of every month, via Zoom, I offer a workshop that is pay what you can. The PWYCW option allows my art journaling workshops to reach a wider audience.
Why do I do this?
I believe that art is for everyone and that access shouldn't be limited to only those who can pay to play. My hope is that this workshop will subsidize my other workshops as well as my teaching practice. By keeping costs low and affordable, I can reach and encourage more people.
Art has no borders.
This is a workshop that encourages creative play and experimentation. It also reminds us of how important and necessary it is to make space for our creativity. It reminds us that it is a practice.
It's a use what you have workshop. You don't need fancy or expensive materials. Anything and everything will work.
It is open to everyone, everywhere, no matter your ability.
While not exactly a step by step, follow me workshop (though it could be if you want it to be), it is to encourage you to be open to new possibilities and ideas. I want you to ask, what if? I want you to get messy and make new discoveries.
I want you to open yourself up and piece yourself back together again.
If you're interested in joining me, the workshop is live at 11 AM PDT, the first Saturday of every month.
If you can't make the live, all of my live sessions are recorded.
I'll encourage you to attend the live sessions if possible. It creates community. Every workshop there is time allotted (both on and off camera) for sharing, questions, and idea generating.
Each month there are new exercises for collage, paint (layering, color theory, mark making, and more), as well as journaling and pen work.
Yes, we may be using the same materials but it is always a new way of seeing. There is always something new to discover.
